Why is Shea High School Important?
Constructed in 1938 this building was originally titled Pawtucket West Senior High School, and was divided into three separate schools. In 1977, the name of the school was officially changed to Charles E. Shea High School, after its principal between 1949-59, and superintendent for another eighteen years. In 1983 it was added to the National Register of History Places for being a highly unusual architectural structure that exhibits patterns closely associated with Art Deco. (Photo: III.-VII.) |
